Personal Protection Equipment
Personal protection equipment includes such things as goggles, helmets, clothing that are all designed to protect your physical body from blunt impact and injury. Protection equipment is created for the purpose of protecting from occupational hazards as well such as heat, chemicals, electric hazards, infections and other job related incidents.
Personal equipment for protection is sometimes referred to as personal armor and is specialized protective gear. These types of gear can protect you from an environment where there are viral infections, pollution or an application of pesticides. This protection not just protects you from the environment but protects the environment from you as well, especially if you are the one with the virus.
There are specialized hazard protective gear especially created to protect you or the environment from biological types of hazards. These types usually include medical personnel’s masks as well as gloves which protect infection from spreading from one patient to another or between patients and doctors.
There is also protective equipment that is called ballistic protective equipment which are created to protect soldiers as they get involved in combat as well as by law enforcement in the event of a riot or lesser types of conflicts.
Corrections officers as well as law enforcement wear blunt trauma protective equipment which will help to manage crowds, control riots, extract cells, in times of civil disturbances, violent disturbances and other response operations for emergencies.
There are certain standards which ensure that the protective equipment that you are wearing will indeed give you a certain degree of protection. There are industry standards created by organizations such as the Canadian Standards Association, the National Institute of Justice and the Home Office Scientific Development Branch which ensure that certain protective gear are up to par and will protect you from what the gear claims it will.
There are also protective clothing worn for sports events such as the helmet for the goalies of the World Cup players. Other sports protective clothing involve sliding shorts and cups under sports clothes for baseball players, a mask, jockstraps and other types of protection for hockey and American football. Motorcycle riders are also required to wear headgear and eye wear.
Gas masks and respirators for particulates are also worn in order to filter gases, chemicals or particles which are airborne. There is another type of respirator which provides you with clean, breathable air from another source such as when you go scuba diving.
